Beltane Blessings!

Celebrating Beltane by firewalking with drumming by Jen Grange of Lakeland Wellbeing

It’s finally here!

Beltane is my favourite festival of the year. I can’t tell you how excited I am (although if you’ve met me in person or seen me online, you can probably guess! )

Today (May Day) is traditional Beltane – the Celtic fire festival celebrating the midpoint between the spring equinox and summer solstice. Astrological Beltane falls on the 4th May this year, so I’m going to celebrate all the way through!

Beltane is traditionally a day of fertility, creativity, love & pleasure  – a time to rediscover our inner goddess/god with the union of the Earth and the sun.

It is a time to reflect on what makes you feel

Alive

Adventurous

Confident

Sexy

It’s also a great day for manifesting your desires as we celebrate the union of energy between Mother Earth and the Sun, bringing fertility and life!

The History of Beltane

Beltane means ‘goodly fire’ or ‘Fire of Bel’, the sun god. In the olden days, people would jump the Beltane fire to purify themselves and bring fertility. Many would take an ember home to light the fire in their hearth for good luck in the year ahead.

It was a time of great revelry and sexual potency (until the introduction of Christianity changed its focus to purity and chastity).

I’ve mentioned before that the Maypole – an English tradition that I danced around as a child at school – is actually a phallic symbol representing fertility with the ribbons wrapped around it representing the feminine and sexual union. (It always makes me giggle as I had no idea back then of course and neither, I imagine, did my teachers).

Celebrating the Celtic Festivals

If you’ve follow me on social media, you’ll know I love celebrating the Celtic festivals and honouring old traditions. So this Saturday, I’m holding a Beltane Empowerment Workshop and Fire Walk where we’ll be walking over the Beltane fire to release what’s holding us back from manifesting our truest desires. There are still a few places available and I’d love to welcome you…

To take your first step into fire walking you can read more about it here.

You can join me on one of my public fire walking events or book me for your own fire walk for corporate groups and charity events.
